สามารถเข้าถึงได้ – OPEN [2023]
During my trip through Thailand I got inspired to make this experimental short film of culture. As a tribute to “the Land of the Free” I wanted to express my gratitude for the wonderful experiences and lessons Thailand gave me. The Thai name for the country is "Prathet Thai", where “Prathet” means “land" and “Thai” translates to “free”. This name stems from Thailand being the single Southeast Asian country that has never been colonized by a Western power. In my view you still see this in many aspects of Thai Culture, which is open, warmly welcoming, free and very colorful.
Among the many great impressions I had, the one thing that struck me the most was the sense of chaos. I felt small in the vastness of a city like Bangkok, surrounded by countless incentives: sounds coming from everywhere, bright saturated colors, shiny glitters and flashy lights. I aimed to express this (chaos) in my work, through both image and sound. However, chaos is a relative concept.
I tried to create a contrast within this chaos, by looking deeper into it, quite literally. By zooming in on smaller elements, parts of a larger whole, and then reversing this process (zooming out), a bigger picture is revealed. This approach deconstructs chaos, offering a new perspective.
