THE CRADLES [2025]
For the psychedelic indie rock band The Cradles, I was asked to create a photo series that reflects their “post-mullet”, colorful, textured and slightly spiritual aesthetic.
With a limited budget, the project became a fun challenge in finding creative solutions with what we had. I prepared a visual direction beforehand, drawing from different styles and references with a more abstract approach, focusing on combining diverse and unusual textures. At the same time, I wanted to leave plenty of room for experimentation. On the shooting day, The Cradles and I spent the day looking for locations around the city, trying things out on the spot and collaboratively handcrafting parts of the set.
The process became a balance between preparation and improvisation. We allowed the locations, materials and ideas that came up along the way to shape the images. Sometimes, you don’t need a fully worked-out plan to create a fitting result.
